SECIP

The Spanish Society of Pediatric Intensive Care (SECIP) is a group of  Pediatricians dedicated to Pediatric Critical Care. It was founded in October 1976, with Dr. JL Manzano, Dr. FJ Ruza, Dr. J Iglesias, Dr. E. Perez-Yarza, Dr. JM Martinón, C Calvo, MT Hermana, A.Palomeque, X Allué, J.Melendo, A. Tovaruela and M. Rodrigo as partners. New members are gradually joining every year. To date, there are more than 370 members nowadays.

Throughout these years the Society has organized and successfully sponsored multiple conferences, courses and workshops on critical pediatric care.

SECIP has started the “Working Groups and Multicentric Studies” Committee, aiming to improve the relations between all the PICUs in Spain and to increase the number of scientific publications. In addition, the yearly Dr. Ruza Grant for young medical investigators was launched in 2012

Our website www.secip.com has become a useful site to disseminate scientific information and relevant information among all the PICU community in Spain.

Objectives

-Spread of scientific knowledge in pediatric critical care.

-Promote the development of new treatments and technologies.

-Encourage research and development of multicenter studies.

-Organize periodically a National Congress of Pediatric Critical Care

-Promote education programs for fellows

-Implement educational guidelines for Pediatric Intensive train
