The 10th World Congress of the World Federation of Pediatric Intensive & Critical Care Societies (WFPICCS 2020) was held virtually from 1 to 4 December 2020, bringing together a global audience of pediatric emergency, intensive, and critical care professionals in a fully digital format.
Despite the challenges of a rapidly evolving global health landscape, WFPICCS 2020 delivered a rich and engaging scientific program that upheld the Congress’s tradition of excellence. Organized by a collaborative team of local and international scientific committees, the event featured a diverse lineup of regional and international speakers, as well as a dynamic mix of plenary sessions, workshops, and abstract presentations. The program addressed both globally relevant topics and region-specific challenges, reflecting the truly international nature of pediatric critical care.
Held under the theme “Critical Care Without Borders: Intensive Caring Everywhere,” the Congress highlighted the interconnectedness of the modern healthcare environment and emphasized the importance of collaboration in improving outcomes for critically ill children around the world. Key issues such as migration, technology, climate change, workforce dynamics, and health equity were explored in depth, alongside the latest scientific and clinical advancements in the field.
The virtual format allowed professionals from around the world to engage in knowledge-sharing, networking, and professional development from the safety and convenience of their own locations, expanding access and reducing barriers to participation.
WFPICCS 2020 successfully continued the mission of the Federation: to support the global pediatric intensive care community through education, collaboration, and innovation, no matter the setting or circumstance.
