Z. Leah Harris, MD is currently Professor of Pediatrics at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin. She is Chair Emeritus of the Department of Pediatrics at Dell Medical School and former Director of the Dell Pediatric Research Institute.

Dr. Harris completed her Pediatric residency and Chief Residency training and her Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellowship training at the University of Chicago. Dr. Harris is a graduate of the 2012 ELAM Women’s Leadership program. In 2024, Dr. Harris was named a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE).

Over the years, she has held national Education leadership roles, been NIH-funded, ran core labs for Departments and sat on numerous policy and legislative review committees. Currently, Dr. Harris is focused on the development of Transition Care programs and developing new strategies to enhance the pipeline for further development of Pediatricians and Pediatric Subspecialists.
