Dr Will Border is a pediatric cardiologist, Director of Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and a professor of pediatrics at Emory University school of medicine. He is originally from South Africa where he did his medical school at the University of Cape Town. He did residency in pediatrics at Baystate Medical Center in Massachusetts followed by cardiology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
He has been in Atlanta since 2008. He has also recently taken on the role of Chief Physician Wellness officer and works with the physician wellness leadership committee to develop programs to reduce burnout improve and improve wellbeing of physicians at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. His research interests have been directed mostly towards the evaluation of cardiac function by echocardiography. He has an interest in the utilization of exercise stress echo in evaluating cardiovascular hemodynamics during exercise.
He has also collaborated extensively with oncologists to explore the role of echocardiography in detecting early cardiac dysfunction in childhood cancer survivors. Most recently his research efforts have been directed towards evaluating and mitigating the effects of physician burnout.
