Sonia Riley is the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist for Cardiac Services and Paediatric Intensive Care at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. Over the past 20 years, Sonia has developed clinical experience across paediatric acute care and rehabilitation settings.
Current professional and research interests include:
- occupational therapy role in paediatric intensive care, including supporting functional, social-emotional and developmental needs
- impact of early medical/surgical experiences on child, family, and functional outcomes.
- long-term outcomes for congenital or acquired heart disease (including psychosocial, neurodevelopmental and functional outcomes, quality of life)
Sonia is a member of the WFPICCS AHP Committee, and Queensland Congenital and Childhood Heart Collaborative Steering Committee. She recently participated as a member of the expert working group for the development of the Neurodevelopmental and Mental Health National Standards of Care for Childhood-Onset Heart Disease (Australia), due for publication later this year.
